Supporting a new telecoms player take over a globally recognised brand

Franchise Rollout + Signage + Design + Campaigns

Consistently enjoying the largest market share, Vodafone had been Malta’s leading mobile telecoms provider for 23 years.

When it was publicly announced in 2020 that Vodafone would be replaced in a few months by a new and unknown player in the market, Epic, consumers started switching in droves to its closest competitor out of fear that Epic would not be able to live up to Vodafone’s standards.

This presented a major challenge to Epic, as it only had two months to prepare its brand and product offering and launch with a bang, with the intention of winning back lost customers and start operating on a strong footing.

With time running out fast, Epic engaged us to partner with their marketing department as we set out to implement all the brand design requirements across the numerous consumer and employee touchpoints—from shop signage, to in-store marketing material, and numerous campaigns across digital and traditional channels—in time for the day of launch.

A plan was set in motion to position the brand at the heart of Maltese life by marrying wholesome, personal and brand-led photographic interactions with Epic’s striking brand colours, adding an element of excitement and vibrance to the brand’s introduction.

Epic has since recovered admirably, overtaking its closest competitor within one year in the mobile telecommunications market, with 70% of new subscribers now choosing Epic over any of their competitors in 2023.
