SourdoughHub

An ode to time-honoured traditional baking in the heart of Cambridge

Strategy + Branding + Design

In a world where days move at warp-speed, the devoted bakers at the Sourdough Hub invited us to develop a new identity that spoke of qualities reminiscent of traditional bread baking in Malta. A staple in Mediterranean diet steeped in secret recipes, and time-honoured practices developed and shared as part of the community over centuries – this new identity though, was set for shores further afield, in the picturesque county of Cambridgeshire to be exact.

It's clear just how passionate Jennifer, founder of SourdoughHub, is about her craft. A major factor that separates SourdoughHub from the standard bakery is just how much time goes into making each loaf – which is why we chose the concept of time to develop their new identity.

The name consists of 12 letters, presenting a great opportunity for the logo wordmark to be structured in a way reminiscent of a timepiece. The central wheat grains represent the simple, natural and organic ingredients used, evolving into the hands of time.

With the bakery becoming a hub central to the community it serves, the circular logo encapsulated all the values which make SourdoughHub so unique.

“We were awestruck with the concept behind the logo when it was revealed, it fits in perfectly with our story. It makes us determined to live up to all the hard work that has gone into this brand look!”
